By-election in Manang-2 scheduled for November 3

The Election Commission has decided to hold a by-election in Manang’s Provincial Assembly Constituency-2 on November 3.

In the provincial assembly election held in November 2022, independent candidate Rajeev Gurung, also known as Deepak Manange, was elected from Manang’s Provincial Assembly Constituency-2.

The Supreme Court had sentenced Gurung to imprisonment in a case of attempted murder against Milan Gurung, also known as Chakre Milan. The court had also ruled that Gurung was ineligible to hold the position of a member of the Gandaki Provincial Assembly.

Following this, the Election Commission scheduled the by-election for November 3.

A by-election has also been scheduled for the same date, November 3, in Rupandehi’s House of Representatives Constituency-3. The by-election is being held following the death of Rastriya Prajatantra Party lawmaker Deepak Bohara, who was elected from the constituency.
