A home secretary-level meeting between Nepal and India is set to take place after nine years.
A Nepali delegation, led by Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadee, will leave for New Delhi on Monday to take part in the two-day meeting, which begins on Tuesday.
No such meeting has been held between the two countries since 2016.
"The home secretary-level meeting between Nepal and India is set to take place in New Delhi," Lok Bahadur Poudel Chhetri, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told Setopati. "Discussions will focus on issues related to the Ministry of Home Affairs."
The two-day meeting will discuss cross-border crime, border management, repair of border pillars, and control of smuggling, according to the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Joint secretaries from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Law, and representatives from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the Department of Survey will also participate in the meeting.
The meeting will discuss strengthening cooperation between the security agencies of the two countries. Participants of the meeting will also exchange views on mutual legal assistance and extradition treaties between the two nations.
