Finance Minister Paudel calls meeting of governor recommendation committee

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel has called a meeting of the governor recommendation committee.

This is the first time Finance Minister Paudel has called a meeting of the committee. According to the finance minister’s secretariat, the meeting is scheduled to take place after 4 PM on Tuesday.

The governor recommendation committee is headed by Finance Minister Paudel and includes former governor Maha Prasad Adhikari and Poshraj Pandey as members.

Earlier on Tuesday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, Finance Minister Paudel, and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak held discussions at Baluwatar.

Following the meeting, Finance Minister Paudel called a meeting of the governor recommendation committee.

The position of governor at Nepal Rastra Bank has been vacant since April 6. Finance Minister Paudel had assigned Deputy Governor Neelam Dhungana as the acting governor.

NC President Deuba has proposed economist Biswo Poudel for the governor's position.
