The Central Security Committee held a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday afternoon.
The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.
According to the home minister’s secretariat, the meeting discussed the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan for nearly an hour.
A secretariat source said that the discussion also covered the potential impact of the situation on Nepal.
The meeting discussed placing all security agencies on high alert, tightening checks in border areas, and other related matters.
The source said that the committee also discussed conducting strict checks at international airports.
Participants in the meeting included Inspector General of Nepal Police Deepak Thapa, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Raju Aryal, chief of National Investigation Department Hutaraj Thapa, and Lieutenant General of Nepal Army Nirmal Kumar Thapa.
The Armed Police Force has increased vigilance in border areas after tensions escalated between India and Pakistan.
To prevent potential illegal infiltration, the Armed Police Force, in coordination with Nepal Police, the National Investigation Department, local representatives, and the public, has intensified monitoring of cross-border movement in border areas through information sharing, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa, joint spokesperson for the APF.
