Chief Minister of Sudur Paschim province, Kamal Bahadur Shah, has departed for India.
A 10-member delegation led by Chief Minister Shah left for India on Tuesday.
According to Chief Minister Shah’s press advisor Dambar Bahadur Bam, the delegation led by the chief minister departed for India from Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu for a weeklong visit at the invitation of the Indian government.
This is Chief Minister Shah’s first foreign visit. He will remain in India until May 5.
Speaking to journalists at Tribhuvan International Airport before departing for India, Chief Minister Shah said discussions will be held on the investment summit being organized by the provincial government, as well as on topics such as energy, tourism, and agriculture during the visit.
The delegation will visit places including Delhi, Dehradun, Ayodhya, and Lucknow in India.
They are also scheduled to meet with Indian federal ministers.
The delegation will return to Kailali from Lucknow via land route.
The delegation includes Minister for Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives Bir Bahadur Thapa; former minister and parliamentary party leader of the Nagrik Unmukti Party, Ghanashyam Chaudhary; former minister and chief whip of the CPN (Unified Socialist), Naresh Kumar Shahi; CPN (Maoist Center) provincial assembly member Jhapat Bahadur Saud; Policy and Planning Commission member Sher Bahadur Bhandari; Sudur Paschim Chief Secretary Kamal Prasad Pokharel; Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure Development, Surat Kumar Bam; Chief Minister’s Political Advisor Jitu Upadhyaya and Personal Secretary Ram Bahadur Bista.
Meanwhile, Minister for Economic Affairs Bahadur Singh Thapa has been assigned the responsibility of acting chief minister of Sudur Paschim province.
Before leaving for India on Tuesday, Chief Minister Shah designated Thapa as acting chief minister for the duration of his absence.
