CPN standing committee members from erstwhile CPN (Maoist Center) have complained with Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of abandoning them and allying with others.
Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Mani Thapa, Devendra Paudel, Haribol Gajurel, Chandra Prakash Khanal and Janardan Sharma on initiation of Sharma has met Dahal at his residence in Khumaltar on Thursday to relay their grievances.
The five advised Dahal to move forward together with fellow Chairman and Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli for the sake of party unity, according to one of the five leaders.
Another standing committee member said they advised Dahal to ally with Oli instead of senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal until the next general convention. "We asked him to take initiative for unity. He said he will and has been trying, and asked us to keep on encouraging him," Gajurel told Setopati.
Thapa said he advised that it is better to pay attention on unity rather than power equation in the current situation. "We have supported him for party unification and therefore have asked him to save unity," he stated. "We feel the problem is in the equation. We have told him that we will support him in a way to save party unity."
Dahal in response said the main problem is with Oli and not him, and stressed on the need for former Maoists to stand together. "PM has said he will leave in an official manner from general convention. Dahal has insisted that PM should be ready to quit one of the two posts or obey party decision," Paudel said. "We believe that the problem should be resolved even by going to general convention and PM should also be ready to provide a breakthrough."
