Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi has returned home completing his two-day visit of Nepal. Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali saw him off as he took off on an Air India plane from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Saturday evening.
Modi had landed in Janakpur Friday morning for his third Nepal visit as PM. He prayed at the Janaki Temple, Muktinath Temple and Pahupatinath Temple during the visit he himself termed a pilgrimage.
He was also accorded civic receptions at Janakpur and Kathmandu. PM KP Sharma Oli and Modi jointly launched the Ramayan Circuit flagging off a bus for the Janakpur-Ayodhya route from Janakpur on Friday.
The two PMs also jointly started construction of 900 MW Arun III Hydropower Project from Kathmandu by clicking a switch Friday evening.
Modi met PM Oli, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, former PMs, and leaders of different political parties during his two-day visit.
Oli said he had serious discussions with Modi on issues like agriculture, waterways, additional air routes for Nepal and demonetization in India.
The two countries issuing a joint statement said they have agreed to take further steps to enhance the economic and physical connectivity by air, land, and water. “Recognizing the vibrant people to people contacts and friendly bilateral ties, the two Prime Ministers directed the respective officials to expand cooperation in civil aviation sector, including early technical discussion on additional air entry routes to Nepal by respective technical teams,” the statement reads.
