At least 40 injured in Nawalparasi school bus accident

As many as 40 people including school children were injured in an accident involving a school bus at Sukrauli of Ramgram Municipality, Nawalparasi Friday. The bus (Ga 1 Kha 3189) belonging to the Devjyoti Lower Secondary School of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-6 in Chitwan met with an accident as it was heading toward Lumbini for a picnic from Chitwan via Nawalparasi. The bus overturned a road pothole. The injured students have already been sent back to home after general treatment at the Prithvi Chandra Hospital, Parasi while some few have been referred to Chitwan for further treatment, the District Police Office Nawalparasi said. A total of 49 people were traveling in the bus at the time of the accident. Others were rescued by the police with the help of locals. The cause of the accident has not been ascertained yet, police said.
