The Butwal bench of Tulsipur High Court has also ordered the release of former deputy inspector general Chhabi Lal Joshi if he deposits a bail amount equivalent to his share of liability.
On Thursday, a bench of Judges Basudev Acharya and Tej Narayan Paudel of the court ordered the release of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane in the Supreme Cooperative fraud case.
Lamichhane had requested that he be released after depositing Rs 27.48 million, which is his share of the amount claimed in damages.
Joshi had also filed a similar petition of the same nature, but he had not specified the amount. Therefore, Joshi must now file a petition in the Rupandehi District Court, requesting his release upon depositing a bail amount equivalent to his share of the liability, said the court’s registrar Amit Upreti.
“An order of the same nature has also been issued for Chhabilal Joshi. However, he had not specified his share of the amount claimed in damages,” he said. “The lawyers arguing on his behalf had mentioned it. That is why such an order was issued.”
Senior advocate Shiva Prasad Gaudel, and advocates Manoj Kumar Chaudhary and Rochak Joshi argued on behalf of Joshi during Thursday’s hearing.
