A complaint has been filed against the two judges who acquitted Nepali Congress leader Mohammad Aftab Alam, accused of burning people alive in a brick kiln after a bomb blast in Rautahat.
A complaint was lodged in the Judicial Council against judges Khusi Prasad Tharu and Arjun Maharjan of the Birgunj bench of the Janakpur High Court, according to a source.
The complaint demands an investigation, alleging that the judges disregarded the grounds presented by the Rautahat District Court while delivering their verdict.
On Wednesday, the bench of judges Tharu and Maharjan acquitted Aftab Alam and three others in the Rautahat blast case.
Along with Alam, his brother Mohammad Mahtab Alam, Sheikh Seroj (also known as Sheikh Saraj), and Badri Sahani were also acquitted.
The Rautahat District Court had sentenced all four to life imprisonment on April 25, 2024.
