Nepali mountaineer Ang Rita Sherpa, famous as Snow Leopard, has passed away at the age of 72 on Monday.
Sherpa breathed his last at 10 in the morning at his residence in Jorpati, Kathmandu, according to General Secretary of Pasang Lhamu Foundation Chhetu Sherpa. He revealed that the last rites will be performed in a couple of days.
Ang Rita Sherpa hailed from Thamo, Solukhumbu.
He holds the world record for climbing the Mt Everest 10 times without supplemental oxygen.
He was unwell for the past few years.
