The Nepal Army has handed over an Acrow bridge (Bailey bridge) constructed over the Phalaku River at Betrawati, on the border of Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts, to the Galchhi-Rasuwagadhi Road Project.
The Army handed over the bridge on Sunday.
The Army began reconstruction work in the area after a flood in the Bhotekoshi River on August 26 damaged roads and bridges. To build the bridge over the Phalaku River, an access road was constructed by cutting through difficult rocks along an approximately 300-meter stretch.
The Army began installing the Acrow bridge on October 6. Installation was completed on October 10, and the bridge was formally handed over to the road project on Sunday.
The bridge, which has a load-bearing capacity of 40 tons, is 240 feet (73.2 meters) long and 18 feet (5.5 meters) wide.
With the bridge now operational, travel is expected to become easier for residents of Nuwakot and Rasuwa. It is also expected to facilitate the transportation of relief supplies and essential goods to flood-affected areas.
