Mayors have advised to extend the prohibitory orders currently enforced in the Kathmandu Valley till August 31.
A meeting of the forum of mayors in the Valley on Monday has decided to recommend the extension to all three district administrations concluding that infection has yet to fall.
Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya said the situation can be taken under control by doing PCR test of all those exposed to infected persons in the Valley as nobody has entered the Valley during the prohibitory orders enforced from August 20. "We have decided to do test of everyone who has come into close contact with infected persons in coordination with the Health Ministry as that has not been done now," he added.
The meeting has also decided to stop all kinds of non-essential services provided by the local bodies until August 31, according to Mayor of Madhyapur Thimi Madan Sundar Shrestha.
