Senior journalist of Kantipur daily Balram Baniya has been found dead in Makwanpur on Wednesday.
His body was found at Mandu Hydropower in Sisneri of Bhimphedi rural municipality, according to Chief of the Metropolitan Police Crime Division SSP Dipak Thapa. The body has been taken to Hetauda for post-mortem.
He was missing since Monday.
Kantipur had lodged a police complaint Wednesday morning stating that he was not in contact with the family, friends and office for three days, according to Spokesperson with the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu Somendra Singh Rathore.
Baniya was last seen at Balkhu by a policeman on Monday which has been corroborated by CCTV footage. He was questioned by the policeman for a while.
Editor-in-Chief of Kantipur Sudheer Sharma earlier said that his last mobile location was also traced to Balkhu.
Coming from Tanahu, Baniya had been working at Kantipur since over two decades back. He had also worked with Nagarik daily for a short time in between that.
