Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deepak Thapa to investigate those who went on a Spain visit recently.
During a meeting with Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadi and IGP Thapa at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday, Home Minister Lekhak directed an investigation into those who used visit visas to travel to Spain during PM Oli's recent visit to the European nation, according to the home minister’s secretariat.
The home minister instructed IGP Thapa to focus the investigation on others apart from the government delegation who went on the Spain visit, how and through which organizations they went, who handled their visa process and other arrangements, and who coordinated their visits.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and the Anti Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police will conduct the investigation.
The home minister’s secretariat said that legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty.
Prime Minister Oli led a Nepali delegation to Spain on June 28 and returned home on July 4.
