Bhagawati Neupane, a National Assembly member from the CPN-UML, has been appointed as the minister for federal affairs and general administration.
On Tuesday afternoon, President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Neupane as minister upon the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Previously, Rajkumar Gupta, a House of Representatives member from the UML, held the position. Gupta resigned on Tuesday after an audio clip was made public allegedly implicating him in a bribery deal worth Rs 7.8 million.
Neupane was appointed on the prime minister’s recommendation, replacing Gupta.
"In accordance with Article 76 (9) of the Constitution of Nepal, the president has appointed Bhagawati Neupane as minister upon the recommendation of the prime minister. She has been entrusted with the responsibilities of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration," said a statement from the President’s Office.
