Bhanu Jayanti, the birth anniversary of poet Bhanubhakta Acharya, is being celebrated across the country on Sunday with various events.
In Kathmandu, the day was marked by garlanding the statue of Bhanubhakta located on the premises of the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi on Sunday morning.
Speaker Devraj Ghimire and Minister for Education, Science, and Technology Raghuji Panta were also present at the event.
It was followed by a morning procession held in the memory of the late poet, who is known as “Adikavi” or the first poet.
Students from various schools also participated in the morning procession.
Born in Chundi Ramgha of Tanahun district on July 13, 1814, Bhanubhakta is best known for translating the epic Ramayan from Sanskrit into Nepali for the first time.
