A 65-year-old woman has died of COVID-19 at the APF Hospital in Balambu, Kathmandu on Wednesday.
Hospital Spokesperson SP Dr Pravin Nepal told Setopati that the woman from Malangwa-6, Sarlahi, currently residing at Sitapaila, breathed her last at around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.
The woman had been taken to a local hospital after fever and then to Manmohan Hospital at Swoyambhu on Friday after her condition deteriorated. She was kept on ventilator there and her swab sent for PCR test that day. The report arrived on Sunday confirming she was infected.
She was then admitted at the APF Hospital on Monday, according to Dr Nepal. "She was on ventilator even at our hospital. She died at 12:31 Wednesday afternoon," he added.
The body is at the hospital and the funeral will be conducted by the Nepal Army.
Samples of her two sons who had stayed at the hospital with her have also been sent for test.
The COVID-19 death toll in Nepal has now reached 61.
