A 65-year-old woman undergoing treatment at the Patan Hospital has died of COVID-19 on Friday.
Hospital Director Dr Bishnu Sharma told Setopati that the woman, who was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), breathed her last at around nine in the morning. She was suffering from pneumonia.
The woman from Thasikhel, Lalitpur was admitted at the hospital on July 21. She had recently returned from Birgunj. She was admitted at the hospital after test at Star Hospital showed she was infected.
The body is currently in the hospital and the Nepal Army will conduct funeral, according to Dr Sharma.
Three persons had died of COVID-19 in Birgunj in a single day on Thursday. An Indian chief executive officer (CEO) of one Jagadamba Enterprises and two other men from Birgunj died on Thursday.
The death toll in Nepal now has reached 56.
