The government has prohibited operation of quarantine and isolation facilities at schools.
Government Spokesperson Yuba Raj Khaitwada during the weekly media briefing about Cabinet decisions on Thursday said schools can no longer be used as quarantine or isolation facilities. "The quarantine facilities operated in schools that currently do not have anyone similarly should be sterilized and used for teaching," he added.
The local bodies have been using community schools to quarantine those returning from India and other countries in lack of space to operate such facilities.
The government has issued the instruction to prepare many school buildings used as quarantine facilities for resuming classes as quarantine facilities are emptying with many returning home after completing quarantine in recent days.
People returning from abroad are still quarantined in school premises in many districts.
