The Ministry of Forests and Environment has recalled Chief Warden of the Chitwan National Park (CNP) Narayan Prasad Rupakheti.
Rupakheti was under fire after reports emerged that soldiers at the CNP had set a Chepang hut on fire and one Chepang died due to their thrashing. The ministry has recalled Rupakheti to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation after questions were raised about the role of CNP in those incidents.
"I have been informed about his transfer by the ministry," acting Director General of the Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Ram Chandra Kandel told Setopati. "An Nath Baral will replace him."
Baral was chief warden of Bardiya National Park in the past.
