The police have said the gold recovered from Kamladi, Kathmandu earlier on Tuesday was fake.
Organizing a press conference in the afternoon, the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu said the gold-like bars were silver coated with gold.
"We had tested the recovered metal with gold traders to find out if it was gold or not," Chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu SSP Shyam Gyawali said. "When the bars were cut it was revealed that it was silver coated with gold. It was only 500 grams of gold and the rest silver."
The police had earlier reported recovery of 15 kilograms of gold in a sac from Kamladi.
