The government has made face mask mandatory at public places.
The Home Ministry on Monday has instructed the Nepal Police headquarters to arrest anyone going out of the house without a mask even as COVID-19 cases escalate in the country. The arrested persons will be punished as per the Infectious Disease Act 1964, according to Communication Officer with the ministry Umakanta Adhikari.
He pointed out that the instruction has been issued as the safety measures prescribed by the ministry while relaxing the lockdown including physical distance of two meters, use of masks and others have not been followed.
"The lockdown was relaxed on condition of following those conditions. But risks have been increased by not using even simple masks. This decision has been taken as COVID-19 cases been increased due to that."
