The Health Ministry has projected the total COVID-19 cases in Nepal to rise to 40,000 by August.
"There can be two kinds of situations. One is bad and the other is normal or medium. Cases in Nepal will rise to 40,000 by the third week of August if the situation remains medium," Joint Secretary at the ministry Dr Guna Raj Lohani said
The Ministry has projected that up to five percent of the 40,000 cases may have to be hospitalized. "We can manage 1,000 ventilators and 1,800 ICU beds in that scenario."
The total number of cases in Nepal was 8,605 by Saturday. The death toll is 22 while 1,578 persons have recovered.
