A woman who died at Kohalur Medical College of Banke on Monday has posthumously tested positive for COVID-19.
The 45-year-old woman from Baijnath rural municipality 6 was admitted at the hospital on June 12 with pneumonia.
Her swab was collected after she died while undergoing treatment on Monday. The report arrived positive on Tuesday.
Chairman of Baijnath rural municipality Man Bahadur Ruchal claimed that the woman was in the community and had not travelled anywhere, and how she was infected has yet to be known.
The body is still in the medical college and will be managed in accordance to the guidelines for management of funeral rites of COVID-19 victims.
This is the 20th COVID-19 death reported by Nepal.
