448 test positive Friday as total crosses 5,000

Kathmandu, June 12

The country reported a record 448 new COVID-19 cases on Friday taking the total number of cases to over 5,000.

The total number of persons diagnosed with COVID-19 in Nepal has now reached 3,448, according to the Health Ministry.

The number of cases has been rising in recent days due to return of a large number of Nepalis from India and expansion in the scope of testing.

Sixteen persons have succumbed to the virus until now while 877 have recovered.
