The Home Ministry has decided to make lockdown in the Kathmandu Valley stringent from Friday after rise in cases of COVID-19.
The ministry reached that conclusion after holding discussion with chief district officers (CDO) of the three districts, mayors inside the Valley and security persons after two more persons tested positive in the Valley on Thursday.
"We have reached the conclusion to intensify check-up, and be more vigilant at the entry points to the Valley," a CDO who participated in the meeting told Setopati.
The mayors advised to intensify check-up even in the inner streets during the meeting.
The ministry has revoked all kinds of vehicle passes effective from Thursday. The CDOs will issue passes in the districts only in coordination with the ministry.
The mayors also urged the government to reconsider the decision to allow operation of 42 kinds of industries.
