Owner of Shankar Group and promoter of Jagadamba Steels and Cement Sulabh Agrawal has been arrested immediately after being released by the Kathmandu District Court on bail of Rs 2.50 million in the case of price gouging on Thursday.
Chief of the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu SSP Shyam Gyawali told Setopati that he was arrested by its team immediately after release. "We have arrested after the Department of Money Laundering Investigation instructed investigation against him," Gyawali stated.
A bench of Justice Brajesh Pyakurel earlier on Thursday ordered his release on bail of Rs 2.55 million, according to Registrar at the Kathmandu District Court Ananda Shrestha.
A team of Metropolitan Police Crime Division had arrested Agrawal from Naxal on April 7 on charge of selling thermal guns that cost Rs 3,000 per unit at Rs 15,000.
Agrawal, the honorary consul of Kyrgyzstan in Nepal, was also accused of involvement in black-marketing of masks recently but was not punished then.
