Maharajgunj DSP removed for manhandling doctors

Chief of the Metropolitan Police Circle, Maharajgunj DSP Umesh Lamsal has been removed after manhandling doctors of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) and Kanti Children's Hospital.

The Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu has issued a statement on Thursday stating that DSP Lamsal has been removed from Maharajgunj and summoned to the office. It has stated that other police personnel involved in manhandling the doctors have also been summoned for investigation.

It has also formed a committee under SSP Kiran Bajracharya to probe the incident.

Doctors of TUTH and Kanti were manhandled by a team of police led by DSP Lamsal when they were returning to their residence after dinner Wednesday evening.

The Metropolitan Police has expressed sorrow at the incident and committment that such incidents will not be repeated.
