A youth has tested positive for COVID-19 in Rautahat on Monday taking the number of infected persons in Nepal to 14.
The 19-year-old had returned from New Delhi to Motipur in Ishnath municipality 5 during the lockdown. "He had returned on March 29 capitalizing on the open border. He was kept in quarantine by the locals immediately upon his arrival," Chief District officer (CDO) of Rautahat Basu Dev Ghimire told Setopati
Ishnath municipality is at the Indian border with Aurahaiya, the place where the youth was quarantined, adjoining Bihar.
Administrative Officer of Ishnath municipality Nanda Kishore Gupta told Setopati that the youth was quarantined on March 30. "A team of health workers had arrived on April 11 and the swab was sent to Kathmandu for test," Gupta said.
The youth had reached Motihari district of Bihar on a bus and then walked to his home across the border. He was quarantined after the locals came to know that he had arrived from India.
He was working in New Delhi as a labor.
Gupta revealed that the youth is still in quarantine and discussions are on to decide which hospital to send him to.
A 65-year-old woman, who had returned from Birgunj, tested positive in Lamki Chuha municipality of Kailali to become the 13th person to be infected earlier on Monday.
