A woman has been sent to Dhangadi from Lamki Chuha municipality of Kailali for treatment on Monday after signs of COVID-19.
The woman, who had returned from Birgunj 15 days back, was quarantined at Lamki Multiple Campus.
Chief of Lamki Chuha Hospital Dr Prakash Timalsina told Setopati that she has been sent to the Seti Regional Hospital in Dhangadi after receiving informal information from Kathmandu that her swab returned positive test despite testing negative in rapid diagnostic test in Lamki Chuha.
"We have sent her to Dhangadi. Official information about confirmation may come later in the afternoon," Dr Timalsina said. He added that swab and blood of 17 persons including hers had been sent to Kathmandu, and the rest 16 tested negative.
A team of health workers from Dhangadi had reached the Lamki quarantine for rapid and PCR tests.
The woman had returned from Birgunj in a group of 17 persons 15 days back. "Parsa District Administration apparently dropped them at Chisapani with a letter. They then went to their respective homes from there," Ward Chairman of Lamki Chuha 1 Janak Bam said. "We quarantined them after the villagers informed that they had returned from outside."
The woman had stayed at a relative's home in the evening the group returned from Birgunj. "She does not have a house here now. She sold hers in the past and went to India."
He revealed that her relatives will also be quarantined once the result is confirmed, and the local administration is finding out about the relatives.
Three Indians staying in a mosque in Birgunj were confirmed to have been infected on Sunday taking the total number of infected persons in Nepal to 12.
Four of the 12 are currently being treated at the Seti Hospital in Dhangadi.
