The administration has raided the home of Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City Mayor Rajesh Yadav after complaints about distribution of rotten lentils to the people in relief materials.
A joint team of District Administration Office, Bara and Bara Police found 380 sacs of rotten lentils in the Yadav Cold Store situated in Mayor Yadav's house Saturday afternoon.
Yadav was elected to the office on a Nepali Congress (NC) ticket.
The lentils were kept to distribute among the impoverished people during the lockdown.
Locals had protested after rotten lentils were distributed at Basantapur Tole in Kalaiya-2 on Friday. Investigations revealed that the food grains distributed were procured from Yadav Cold Store owned by Mayor Yadav.
Spokesperson with Bara Police Gautam Mishra told Setopati that Yadav's house was raided on Saturday on the basis of that investigation. The cold store now has been sealed.
