The Supreme Court (SC) on Friday has summoned spokesperson at the Health Ministry and director general at the Department of Health Services to come for discussion with the report about the government steps taken to control COVD-19 pandemic.
A bench of Justice Hari Phuyal hearing a writ petition filed by advocate Mukunda Adhikari demanding expansion of the scale of COVID-19 testing in all seven provinces, isolation of those with fever, admission of coronavirus patients in all government and private hospitals among others has issued the order.
The lawyers pleading on behalf of the petitioner claimed that the government and private hospitals don't have effective emergency and referral services, and raised questions about occupational ethics.
"This order has been issued for spokesperson of defendant Health Ministry and director general of another defendant Department of Health Services to come for discussion with details and plans about the issues raised by the petitioner in the petition and during the hearing," the order states.
Both the sides have been summoned to the court on Sunday for discussion on the petition. The court will decide whether to issue interim order or not after hearing arguments of both the sides.
