People have continued to swim across the Mahakali river from the Indian side of Dharchula to Darchula in Nepal.
Inspector with Darchula Police Surendra Prasad Joshi told Setopati that 53 Nepalis have come to Nepal by swimming or evading the eyes of authorities since the start of lockdown. "Some have swam while others have taken other routes," he added.
He revealed that they have been quarantined at their respective local bodies.
Over 700 Nepalis are stranded in Dharchula, India across the Mahakali river from Darchula. They have not been allowed to come to Nepal as the borders are shut after the lockdown. Three of them had earlier swam across the Mahakali to Nepal but they were detained. The rest have been quarantined in India.
There are also reports of Nepalis being stranded at many border points with India along the plains.
