The man who died in isolation in the temporary coronavirus hospital in Butwal on Sunday did not have coronavirus infection.
Communication officer with the hospital Dr Bishnu Gautam told Setopati that the test of deceased's sample at the National Public Health Laboratory in Teku, Kathmandu has showed he was not infected.
"We have been told that he tested negative despite testing twice," Gautam added.
Baburam Thapa, 34, of Sainamaina municipality, who had returned from Dubai on March 19, breathed his last while preparations were on to shift him to the intensive care unit (ICU) at the temporary hospital on Sunday.
He had fever when he arrived and had been on medicines at home, according to focal person at the Lumbini Provincial Hospital Dr Sudarshan Thapa, and came to the hospital only on March 24 after his health deteriorated. "He had no underlying health condition," Dr Thapa added.
The patient's swab was sent for test in Kathmandu before he died on Sunday.
