The government will send a Nepal Airlines plane to China on Saturday to bring medical equipment necessary to test and treat suspected COVID-19 patients.
A minister confided with Setopati that the plane will fly to the Chinese city of Guangzhou and bring the equipment. "The Nepal government will bring the equipment with its own expenses as the materials the Chinese government offered to provide in grant will take some time to arrive," the minister added.
The materials will arrive by Sunday, according to the minister. "The materials will arrive by Sunday. Nepal Army choppers will distribute the materials to different places Sunday itself," the minister stated.
The government has yet to reveal the materials it is bringing and their quantity.
Nepal has also asked for personal protective equipment (PPE), PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test kits, viral transport medium (VTM) necessary to carry the samples, N95 masks, infra-red thermometers, portable PCRs and their reagents, portable ventilators with monitor, mobile ambulances with lab, ambulances, arterial blood gas (ABG) machines, oxygen plants, intubating sets, autoclave machines to sterilize medical equipment, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) machines, thermometers and surgical gloves from the Chinese government.
