Five persons who arrived in the plane with the coronavirus infected girl returning from France via Qatar have been admitted at the Coronavirus Hospital in Bharatpur.
The three men and two women have come into contact with the hospital on Wednesday, according to Hospital Chief Dr Bhoj Raj Adhikari. He said they have been kept in isolation ward and samples will be sent to Kathmandu for tests on Thursday.
"We wanted to send their samples along with two others today itself but couldn't. We will now send at 11 Thursday morning," he told Setopati. He said the samples could not be sent Wednesday as the hospital has to depend on personnel from Bharatpur Hospital to extract swab.
Health Minister Bhanubhakta Dhakal, organizing a press conference on Monday, had confirmed the 19-year-old student returning from France via Qatar tested positive for the coronavirus.
The girl had arrived on March 17 and was on self-quarantine at home. She had contacted the Shuraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku on Friday after her friend from Vietnam who accompanied her from France to Doha contacted her to inform that she tested positive for the virus.
A total of 158 passengers had arrived in the QR 553 flight on March 17.
A youth arriving from Sharjah, United Arab Emirates also tested positive Tuesday midnight taking the total number of infected persons in Nepal to three.
