Five foreigners have been admitted at the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku on suspicion of coronavirus infection.
Hospital Director Dr Sagar Raj Bhandari confirmed that one of them is being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for serious pneumonia and the other four are kept in isolation. They are from America and Scotland and were admitted on Monday.
"We admitted one in the ICU on Monday itself after seeing that he had serious complications," Dr Bhandari stated. "But his first test turned negative. We are preparing to again test him for coronavirus."
He revealed that health of the patient in ICU is improving and he will be taken out of the ICU today itself. He added that test reports of all five persons will arrive by Wednesday evening.
The hospital has only five isolation beds and they all have been taken. Dr Bhandari said additional patients would be referred to Patan Hosipatl that has seven beds.
Patan Hospital will refer patients to the Armed Police Force Hospital if the seven beds are all occupied.
