Woman files for alimony claiming CM Sherdhan Rai is her husband

Baalika Khadka of Dolakha has filed for alimony against Chief Minister of Province 1 Sherdhan Rai claiming he is her husband.

Khadka has lodged a case with the Kathmandu District Court demanding her relationship be established and she be provided alimony. Registrar with the Kathmandu District Court Ananda Raj Shrestha confirmed registration of the case against Rai.

She has accused CM Rai of physical torture, sexual misconduct and domestic violence in the complaint.

She claims that Rai had rented an apartment in Golfutar, Kathmandu to keep her when he was communication minister, and she has remained with Rai since 2014.

She has added that Rai ignored her when she went to Biratnagar to meet him after he became CM. She has also revealed that the top leadership of ruling CPN expressed indifference when she tried to inform about injustice against her.
