The government has decided to send a chartered flight to the Chinese city of Wuhan, the place of origin of the new coronavirus, to bring Nepali nationals stranded there.
The Nepali Embassy in Beijing issuing a notice Saturday evening has stated that the Nepal government has decided to rescue Nepalis in Hubei province, whose capital is Wuhan, and informed that work is being done to fly a special chartered flight.
Nepalis staying in the province who want to return home on that flight need to apply at Beijing@nepalembassy.org.cn. The Nepalis wishing to return must complete application by nine local time Sunday morning to be eligible, according to the notice.
The government is preparing to keep the rescued Nepalis making isolated beds in different hospitals of Kathmandu. Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali said such beds have been arranged at hospitals including the Teku Hospital.
The incubation period of Wuhan coronavirus, that has claimed 304 lives by Sunday, is believed to be up to 14 days, and the rescued Nepalis will have to be quarantined for 14 days even if they don't show any symptoms.
The World Health Organization has already warned that other countries need to prepare in the event the disease spreads among their populations.
