Rape-accused Krishna Das Giri, known as Siddha Baba, has absconded to India in anticipation of being again sent to judicial custody.
Giri, who had been travelling to India in recent days citing treatment, went to Jogbani on a Mitsubishi Pajero (Ga 1 Cha 8157) leaving his bodyguard Head Constable Mukesh Sah on the Nepali side of the border on Thursday.
The Biratnagar High Court was hearing his case when Giri fled to India. A bench of Chief Justice of the Biratnagar High Court Til Prasad Shrestha and Justice Prem Raj Karki has ordered to send him to judicial custody revoking the order of Sunsari District Court to release him on bail of Rs 300,000.
Police suspect that Giri has fled to India with a plan to return to Nepal only if the High Court were to decide in his favor.
He had left his ashram with a few disciples and supporters in the morning saying he is going to the court. But he went directly to Jogbani without going to the court.
