The Province 2 government has announced relief for the youth campaigning against illegal extraction of stones and sand who was killed by a tipper in Dhanusha on Friday.
Dilip Kumar Mahato, 24, of Mithila municipality 4 Sripur was hit by the tipper (Na 7 Kha 6413) at Aurahi river in Mithila-5 Friday morning.
Chief Attorney of Province 2 Dipendra Jha said the Cabinet meeting on Monday has decided to provide Rs 500,000 to the Mahato family in immediate relief.
Mahato was doing engineering in India. He had been opposing illegal mining of stones and sand from local rivers. Owner of a local crusher industry had issued death threats against Mahato due to his campaigning.
The crusher owner, driver of the tipper and a few other persons have already been arrested in connection to the murder.
