A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court demanding revocation of appointment of district judges by the Judicial Council (JC) on December 3 calling it erroneous.
Deputy attorney Hari Shankar Gyawali moved the SC on Sunday calling for revocation of the illegal decision to maintain image and prestige of the judiciary.
He argues that the appointment was made in an arbitrary and whimsical manner despite the Constitution stating that seniority and qualification be considered while recruiting from the staffers in judicial service.
The JC on December 3 recommended judges for Bhojpur, Rukum, Solukhumbu, Dolpa, Jhapa, Banke and Saptari districts.
Registrar at the Butwal bench of Tulsipur High Court Gehendra Raj Panta was recommended to Bhojpur, deputy registrar at the Supreme Court (SC) Bidya Raj Paudel to Rukum, deputy registrar at the SC Mahendra Raj Kafle to Solukhumbu, registrar at the Mahendranagar bench of Dipayal High Court Tek Raj Joshi to Dolpa, and deputy registrar at the SC Indira Sharma to Jhapa. Deputy registrar at the SC Man Kumari GM BK, meanwhile, was recommended to Banke and deputy registrar at the SC Rit Kumari Bakhrel to Saptari.
