A member of the gang involved in theft of almost Rs 50 million of Agricultural Development Bank Limited by hacking the bank's system has been arrested from Kathmandu.
Deepak Nepal, 43, of Rangeli, Morang has been arrested by the Metropolitan Police Crime Division from Kathmandu on Friday.
He had gone to withdraw money from the bank's Golfutar branch. Chief of the division Sahakul Thapa said Nepal was trying to cash a check of Rs 900,000. He revealed that around Rs 10 million of the stolen Rs 47.60 million was deposited in his account.
He had been trying to withdraw that money. He was arrested after information that he had reached Golfutar to cash the check.
Nepal is an agent of the gang that hacked the bank's system. Eighteen such agents have already been arrested in connection to the case.
The amount was withdrawn from Lahan branch of the bank on September 22.
