Contractor Manoj Bhetwal, arrested on banking offense charges, has been released after just a week.
Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara at the District Police Range, Kathmandu, said that Bhetwal was released because the Kathmandu District Court did not extend his custody.
According to SP Bohara, when Bhetwal was presented in court on July 3 for a custody extension, it was denied due to his health condition.
However, the investigation against him was ongoing, said SP Bohara.
Bhetwal was arrested by police on Friday, June 27. Police initially took him to Bir Hospital after arresting him. He was later admitted to HAMS Hospital that same night, citing asthma-related issues.
Bhetwal is accused of issuing a bounced check worth Rs 100 million.
He has faced multiple cases in the past as well.
