The Biratnagar High Court has demanded the details of Sunsari District Court's order to release rape-accused Krishna Bahadur Giri, known as Siddha Baba, on bail.
Registrar at the High Court Jitendra Thapaliya told Setopati that the bench of Chief Justice Til Prasad Shrestha has sought a short report including the district court order to release Giri.
A bench of Judge Radha Krishna Upreti on Monday had released Giri seeking a bail of Rs 300,000 stating that there is no evidence to establish that he raped a disciple.
The Sunsari District Attorney's Office had moved the High Court against the district court order contending that a person accused of grave crime like rape and with enough evidence to prove his guilt cannot be released on bail.
The High Court hearing the appeal on Friday has demanded details within 15 days.
The District Attorney Office last Thursday had lodged a case charging Giri of raping a female disciple.
Giri was taken to the court from the intensive care unit (ICU) of hospital for recording statement. He has been staying at Birat Nursing Home citing poor health. He was arrested from ICU of the same hospital on December 2.
