Prime Minister (PM) KP Sharma Oli has urged the people to not demand exorbitant compensation for land needed for development projects.
Pointing that the people demand exorbitant amount in compensation from projects but show very low price while trading the land among themselves to avoid tax, he urged them to stop that.
"The Trishuli 3A Project could have been built as a 90 MW project," PM Oli said while inaugurating 60 MW Trishuli 3A from Singha Durbar on Monday. "But this project was not just delayed and cost increased due to disputes like compensation demands by the people, it was limited to just 60 MW."
He added that other projects have also suffered similar problems and stressed that such practices harm the country. He urged everybody to create an environment to move construction works in development projects forward without any obstruction.
He reminded that the government works for prosperity of the country and people, and stated that such demands and pressure are unwarranted.
He expressed confidence that Trishuli 3A will make important contributions in the government's campaign of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis.' "The whole country is happy after addition of 60 MW from the project. This can make important contributions to alleviate poverty, create jobs and boost production to fulfill the national aspirations of 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis,'" he opined.
