The Lalitpur District Court has sent the five persons including Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nidan Hospital, Patan and the hospital's doctor to judicial custody in case of kidney trade.
The court on Tuesday has sent the five to judicial custody during the course of the case. CEO of Nidan Bipendra Pradhan of Kathmandu-26; Dr Rajesh Panta; Shankar Lal Lama of Doramba-6, Ramechhap currently staying at Sowyambhu, Kathmandu; Kumud Kumar Bhattarai of Kanchanpur-9 in Saptari currently staying in Madhaypur Thimi; and Ram Chandra Ale of Lalitpur were arrested on October 16.
Bhattarai is legal advisor to Nidan while Ale is a section officer with the Lalitpur District Administration Office. A kidney was sold and transplanted on Lama on their connivance.
SP with the Human Trafficking Bureau of Nepal Police Govinda Thapaliya said they connived to get permission from the Lalitpur District Administration Office to transplant kidney of an individual to Lama, but transplanted another person's kidney to Lama.
Ale had helped in providing paper works for donation from another person, according to the police.
