A Nepal Army (NA) helicopter has gone to Dadeldhura Monday morning to bring Dr Govinda KC, who is in a hunger strike there, to Kathmandu.
Chief District Officer (CDO) of Dadeldhura Raju Prasad Paudel said the chopper has gone to airlift the doctor after his health deteriorated. The Dadeldhura Hospital on Sunday had issued a statement stating that his blood pressure has started to plummet, heartbeat increased, oxygen saturation dropped and he has kidney problems.
The hospital had said it would not be able to manage complexities in his health should it deteriorate further pointing it lacks intensive care units, skilled human resources and equipment, and prescribed his transfer to a better hospital.
Dr KC is on his 17th fast-unto-death since November 4. Having started the hunger strike at a private home he was brought to the Dadeldhura Hospital after his health started deteriorating.
He is refusing to be shifted to Kathmandu despite the initiative by administration. "He is refusing to go to Kathmandu. We are trying to convince him," CDO Paudel said.
