Three persons have been arrested from Kathmandu with equipment to print counterfeit Nepali currency notes Monday morning.
A team from Metropolitan Police Circle Baddha has arrested Rajan Pariyar, 26, Santosh Nepali, 35, and Mahendra Nepali, 21, all of Melunga municipality-7 currently residing in Gokarneshwore municipality-6, from Nayabasti, Gokarneshwore-6 with equipment and a few counterfeit notes.
Inspector with the circle Pradeep Paudel said 34 counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 denomination, color printer, papers used in printing counterfeit currency notes, CPUs, monitors, heater, camera, scissors, gum and other materials have been recovered from the site.
Paudel revealed that the three printed counterfeit currency notes at the house they were staying using the equipment. Preliminary investigation showed they circulated 40 counterfeit notes of Rs 1,000 denomination in the market during the recent Dashain festival.
